Good Morning All,
Two weeks into the New Year already and I look around to see some of my “resolutions” in full effect while others have yet to take flight, all in due time I suppose. Tom traveled to Portland, Oregon this weekend for personal reasons. While away he gathered with his fathers side of the family to comfort one another as they bid farewell to his cousin, Mike Lopez Jr. Mike fought a long and tiring battle against Lou Gehrig’s disease for over 16 years. These years his loving, motivated family created a foundation, T.E.A.M. Lopez and set themselves on a mission. Education and fund raising were essential parts of their journey. Ultimating their combined strength and determination has made a real difference in how his family and other families facing this challenge will proceed. God Bless the Lopez family.
With Tom and Evan returning to Dayton after time away I am certain their will be food stories and more tomorrow during our first wine tasting of the year. As an example…As Tom was making his way to the airport last night to catch the red eye home he stopped for a 6 course meal, yup, 6 courses at LePigeon. As I sat in the office at home and caught up on a few things I would receive text after text of his last course: Beef cheeks Bourguion….Prawns…Scallops…Yard hen…..cheese…..and I have forgotten 1 (this one he sent a picture, yum) Dessert, panna cotta and Foie rofiterole. I intend to get more details about his culinary journey once he lands today but until then I will dream of those items.
Let’s all have a great week and continue to take care of yourselves.
Thanks for reading my story this week,
Anne
